Activities and outings

GSL organises educational and cultural outings from each language-learning destination one day a week, adapting these to individual student's interests.

GSL offers a balanced daily programme, combining language learning with an intensive practice of sport.  However,  bearing in mind that these trips usually take place during schooltime, we also offer recreational activities. A large choice of activities is available at weekends, to enable students to explore the country and its culture. In the evenings, activities are chosen for entertainment and to give  students the opportunity of meeting young people locally.

Cultural excursions

Visits are arranged to Stratford (Shakespeare's birthplace), Drayton Manor Park, the Black Country Museum, Disney World, Epcot Centre, Universal Studios, Sea World, Wet and Wild, The Everglades, the Christopher Columbus Museum, Casarès, Christ Church, the Sheldonian Theatre, Yellowstone Park, Dublin. These outings give a lot of pleasure to our students, who will also have the opportunity of visiting more "cultural" sites during language courses, as teaching aids.

Evening activities

Whatever the formula chosen, students can take part in the evening activities offered for relaxation.  These include bowling, badminton, table tennis, swimming, and a flamenco-theme dinner.  All formulas include one disco evening a week and outings  to the cinema or theatre as part of the programme.

Evening activities are always supervised and students are accompanied back to their lodgings.  From the age of 17, young people can take part in additional activities (outings to the pub or discotheque). These outings are always supervised, but the young person must have prior written permission to participate from his/her parents.
